Official ADF&G Telemetry Source
Fish counts on the Kenai River are officially recorded by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) using advanced dual-frequency identification sonar (DIDSON and ARIS) units located at River Mile 13.7. Sonar technology operates continuously to capture the escapement data needed to manage commercial, sport, and personal-use fisheries.
Historical comparisons and the 10-year average are computed using ADF&G reports spanning the past decade. During Personal Use dipnetting and peak sport seasons, sonar updates are generally published once daily.
