Fishing spots near Soldotna
Soldotna is the heart of the middle reach of the Kenai River. Known for its massive sockeye runs and convenient bank fishing, it features multiple public parks equipped with extensive fishwalks.

Centennial Park

Swiftwater Park

Excellent mid-river boardwalk access located just upstream of the bridge. Famous for holding schools of sockeye salmon as they travel past the gravel bars.
Parking fee: Day use envelope. Accessibility: Boardwalk ramps.
Soldotna Reach Fishing Rules
- Sockeye: Daily bag limit typically 3 to 6 fish depending on current ADF&G sonar escapement counts.
- King Salmon: Catch-and-release only or closed below Soldotna bridge during periods of low returns. Review emergency orders.
- Rainbow Trout: Rainbow trout in the middle reach are subject to catch-and-release rules in major sections. Single hook, unbaited artificial lures only.
